It's October 23, 2010, and we enjoyed the day at Camp Korey, a farm in Carnation, WA. Anna sent us a link to purchase 2/1 tickets to a farm from livingsocial.com, which included lunch or breakfast, a hayride, a corn maze and pumpkin bowling. We took advantage of all but the bowling, as that was more for the children. On the way in, we noticed this lovely tree by the lake, with a twisty trunk.
We moved on to our free meal. The breakfast included pancakes and bacon, but lunch gave us a choice of grilled cheese sandwich/tomato soup or corn dog/chips, so we went with lunch. We had our first rain of the day, which caused me to open my umbrella, noticing that I was the only one. Most wore hats or hoods, which I wished I had thought of.

We got our hands stamped with pumpkins for the corn maze entrance. I took the picture at the end of our stay, so they became a bit smudged.
There's a huge pumpkin patch, where we were allowed to pick a pumpkin and buy it for .40 per pound. More on those later.
The petting zoo was non-existent, but there were two turkeys in a cage. The male was quite vocal, and would puff up his feathers and tail for a show.
We took a pictu
re of ourselves near some sunflowers, squinting into actual sun, and then hopped on the hayride.
The hayride took us around the corn maze, into some woods where we made a u-turn, and brought us back on the same road. Since
we were sitting on bales of hay that ringed the wagon, we were able to see both sides of the
hayride, one going out and one returning. We noticed a photo op in the corn maze, and decided to try to find it when we went in.

Each hayride went out as full as possible. We chose to sit at the far back, so we could see views out of both sides, and the back.Next, the corn maze! We went in the entrance and I vowed, to myself, to come out the exit. The first people we s
aw were surprised to find themselves at the entrance. There were several spider facts
in the corn maze; some of them are at the end of this blog. After we walked around and almost made out exit, Matt said he wanted to go back and find the S'mores firepit. He was able to back track and we saw
, next to the firepit, a map of the maze itself. We enjoyed toasting our own marshmallows, where I heard two separate girls called "Bailey" obviously, a popular girl's name 8 - 10 years ago.
We saw the hayride, at one point, so we knew where we were in the maze.
We also found the photo op! Since no one was nearby to take our picture, we took one of each. I forgot to check which one I was looking through so there's a spot of gender rev
ersal in our pictures.

We were successful in exiting the corn maze at the exit! I took two pictures. I like the one of Matt in the picture y
ou can actually read the "exit" sign. I like the one of me in the picture where my head blocks the "exit" sign. Since I haven't practiced altering photos, you get to enjoy both.Out of the maze and on to pumpking picking! We had scoped out the pumpkins before the hayride so we knew which two we wanted. Lucky for us, both were still the
re after the hayride
and corn maze. Matt spotted the green one and I chose the lighter one. We got a shot of the green one in its original growing spot, and both in the wagon.
After purchasing the pumpkins, four ornamental gourds and enjoying another spot of rain, Matt got the opportunity to wash the pumpkins. It was interesting to see that pumpkins float; our dark one actually turned upside down, as you can see in the picture.
One last opportunity for enjoyment was in the teepee. I had to read the sign to understand what was going on.
Matt said that could be Anna next year!
We ended our day in Duvall at a coffee shop and saw some more spooky things.
All in all, a very enjoyable day!
Enjoy the spider fa
cts!
